Degree Offered: Professional Science Master’s degree in Applied Nutrition – Nutrition and Wellness Program (PSM-NW)

Program Summary:

  • Enhance your nutrition and wellness expertise with the online Professional Science Master in Applied Nutrition – Nutrition and Wellness program (PSM-NW).
  • This 30-unit flexible program is designed for individuals looking to advance their knowledge and skills in nutritional sciences, human health, and wellness. Whether you’re a recent graduate, health professional, or registered dietitian nutritionist, this program provides an opportunity to deepen your understanding and expand your professional knowledge and skills.
  • Students in this program have opportunities to enhance and apply their abilities in leadership, communication, project management, and team collaboration through coursework and practical, hands-on activities. Student learning culminates in a 270-hour capstone project that can be completed in a location selected by the student (subject to PSM director approval).
  • Graduates of this program are well-prepared for career advancement in various sectors, including public health, private industry and nonprofit organizations.

Professional Science Master’s degree in Applied Nutrition – Nutrition and Wellness Program

Minimum Required Units for the Master’s Degree = 30

  • Core courses: 12 units (4 courses)
    • NSC 509 Advanced Nutrition and Metabolism (3 units), summer 5 week 1
    • NSC 519 Advanced Applied Nutritional Sciences (3 units), summer 5 week 2
    • NSC 562 Professional Ethics and Best Practices in Nutrition Education and Counseling (3 units), summer 10 week
    • NSC 535 Advanced Clinical Nutrition (3 units), fall, spring
  • Elective courses: 11 units
    • Students may select electives from a variety of approved graduate-level courses.
  • Capstone courses: 7 units
    • NSC 597 Capstone Prep Workshop (1 unit), fall & spring 7 week 1
    • *NSC 698A Capstone I (3 units)*, fall, spring, summer 7 week 1
    • *NSC 698B Capstone II (3 unites)*, fall, spring, summer 7 week 2
    • *NSC 698A & 698B – Students work with their selected capstone site to complete approximately 270 hours (45 hours per unit) of hands-on experience that serves as their graduate capstone project.
